The science behind NUTRAVESSA

Doctor formulated. Science + nutrition + botanicals.

Why we built a 4-in-1 formula instead of another basic biotin supplement — and exactly what the research behind it does and doesn't show.

Understanding hair wellness

Shedding and thinning
have many causes.

Everyone sheds hair every day. When shedding or thinning increases, the cause can be very different from one person to the next.[9]

  • Genetics & family history
  • Hormonal changes
  • Stress
  • Illness or recovery
  • Pregnancy & postpartum
  • Nutritional shortfalls
  • Medications
  • Styling & scalp care

Where nutrition fits

Hair follicles are among the most active cells in the body, and they rely on a steady supply of nutrients. NUTRAVESSA is designed to support healthy-looking hair and normal hair wellness through four approaches — not to treat hair loss.* A supplement can't address every cause, which is why we built a broad, doctor-formulated formula rather than a single-ingredient hair vitamin.

If you notice sudden, patchy or heavy hair loss, please talk to a healthcare professional. If you're having lab work done, tell your doctor you take biotin — it can interfere with some lab tests.[10]

Why not just biotin?

We didn't build another basic biotin supplement.

Biotin matters — it's recognized for its role in the maintenance of normal hair. But hair wellness involves nutrition, the follicle environment, everyday stress and the building blocks of keratin. So NUTRAVESSA combines botanicals, Sensoril® ashwagandha, amino-acid nutrition and essential vitamins and minerals in one daily formula.*

Evidence behind the formula

Not every ingredient
has the same evidence.

We'd rather tell you exactly where the science stands than make every ingredient sound equally proven.

Clinically studied branded ingredient

Human studies of the specific ingredient and dose

  • Sensoril® Ashwagandha · 125 mgRandomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in chronically stressed adults.[3]

Nutritional support

Essential nutrients with recognized roles

  • Biotin · Zinc · SeleniumRecognized by the European Food Safety Authority as contributing to the maintenance of normal hair.[4–6]
  • Vitamin D3 · 2,000 IU (50 mcg)Part of the nutritional foundation; vitamin D's relationship with the hair follicle is reviewed in the dermatology literature.[8]

Botanical & amino-acid support

Supporting ingredients with more limited evidence

  • Pumpkin Seed Extract · 400 mg & Saw Palmetto Extract · 320 mgTraditional botanicals. Human research has mostly studied people with specific hair or prostate conditions — not healthy adults — and often different preparations (for example, pumpkin seed oil) than the extracts in this formula.[11–12]
  • L-Cysteine · 200 mgA sulfur-containing amino acid; hair keratin is rich in cysteine.[7] Direct evidence that supplementation changes hair in healthy adults is limited.
